6 days Holidays in a wooden hut, 2 day wilderness tour with our sleddogs
This special program is tailored for guests who want to experience dog sledding and the simplicity of living in Swedish lapland.
Participants: 2-6 people
Dates: December-April
Tour description:
Day 1: Transfer from Kiruna (approx. 1 hour drive)
Arrival in Merasjärvi and Check in.
Move into your own authentic wilderness hut directly on the farm. On the day of your arrival we will welcome you with dinner and discuss the tour schedule for the next few days.
All wooden huts are equipped with a wood stove, two beds and electricity.
The standard is simple. The evening sauna replaces the shower. In the sauna you can take a traditional sauna or use the warm sauna room to wash yourself. Behind the huts you will find an outdoor toilet.
Your active holiday begins when heating up the huts and the sauna for warm water. Centrally located on the farm is our lounge hut where you meet other guests for dinner. The lounge (service house) is equipped with a bathroom, if you want to use a normal shower.
Day 2: The first sled ride
After breakfast our first adventure begins. When we first meet the dogs, everyone is given detailed instructions on how to handle sled dogs and the skills of sledding. The dog teams are divided up and prepared together. Then we set off on our first trip! We take a break on the way and prepare a small wilderness lunch. In the afternoon we return to the farm.
3rd – 4th day: Day tour through the last wilderness of Lapland
Today’s day tour takes us mainly across frozen lakes and through the forests of Lapland. No two days are the same. Today’s goal is our wilderness hut camp, with a simple standard, without electricity and running water in a fantastically location. We spend this night in the wilderness. Once there, we look after the dogs together. We get water from an ice hole in the lake. Help is needed to heat up the huts and sauna for the evening. We eat dinner together. Anyone who wants to heat the sauna is welcome to relax in the evening. On the afternoon of the 4th day we return to the husky farm. We adapt each tour individually to the respective weather conditions, because a tour program that is as varied as possible is very important to us.
Day 5: Discover Lapland
We offer this day at your leisure. We can organize snowshoe hikes, fishing or a snowmobile tour for the group.
Day 6: Journey home
After a last breakfast we say goodbye and drive back to Kiruna.
Notes: Driving a dog sled requires active participation and physical fitness – fear of contact with dogs is more of a hindrance. If you enjoy a simple life, without luxury and with a simple standard – then this program is just right for you. Activities such as heating the sauna and your own hut are part of the daily routine.
The wilderness hut camp (overnight stay in the wilderness) consists of a 6-bed wooden hut (2-bed and 4-bed rooms). If there are groups together, everyone stays there together and we allocate the sleeping arrangements on site.
The order of the day’s planning can vary.
